Humble Beginning

It all started with one truck and its owner’s mission to supply the growing Chinese Restaurant economy.

Tong Shen Trading was established in 2001, with its first home in a busy Brooklyn neighborhood. From the beginning, our goal was simple: to provide local restaurant owners with a convenient and reliable place to find the products they needed to run their businesses.

As a restaurant wholesaler, we carry a wide variety of products, including fresh produce, quality meats, seafood, rice, cooking oils, sauces, dry goods, takeout containers, restaurant supplies, and much more. By offering so many essentials in one place, we made it easier for restaurant owners to shop efficiently and keep their kitchens stocked.

Our Brooklyn location was easily accessible and convenient for restaurant owners throughout the area, allowing customers to quickly pick up the products they needed and get back to running their businesses.

Over the years, Tong Shen Trading has continued to grow alongside the restaurants and communities we serve. What started as a local wholesale business has developed into a trusted source for restaurant supplies and food products, built on dependable service, competitive pricing, variety, and long-lasting relationships with our customers.

In 2018, New Tong Shen Trading was established. More than 2 decades later, we still carry the same purpose we started with in 2001: making restaurant purchasing simple, convenient, and dependable.

Today, we operate a 10 truck fleet serving Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, and many other Cuisines.

A customer once said to us, “You don’t need to be so competitive—you’re the only one around.”

That comment stayed with us.

We’ve never believed that being the only one around is a reason to stop improving. At New Tong Shen Trading, we believe our greatest competitor is ourselves.

Every day, we look for ways to do better than we did yesterday—whether that means offering a wider selection of products, improving quality, keeping our prices competitive, making shopping more convenient, or providing better service to the restaurant owners who depend on us.

We don’t improve because someone else forces us to. We improve because our customers deserve it.

That mindset has helped guide us since 2001 and continues to push us forward today. No matter how much we grow, we will always ask ourselves one question:

How can we do better?
